In recent years a good percentage of the new ethanol plants that were commissioned to use Alfa Laval NX-944HS
solid bowl decanter centrifuges. I have an special opportunity for all the ethanol facilities that use or want to use these
centrifuges. Contact me and I can give you the details.

A Transfer switch is installed between a backup generator, incoming power and your business. A transfer switch continuously monitors utility power and when it senses an interruption it sends a signal to start the generator, when the generator is up to the proper speed, Hz and voltage the transfer switch transfers the load to the generator to provide emergency power. When utility power is restored and no interruptions have occurred for a set time, the transfer switch will then transfer back to utility power and send a signal to turn off the generator after a specified amount of cool down time with no load on the generator. A properly installed automatic transfer switch allows safely switching from utility power to emergency generator power while maintaining isolation of each source from the other. A transfer switch is required by law in all 50 states for back-up / emergency / stand-by generators and is an essential piece of safety equipment. Generators have a useful life of 20,000 to 30,000 hours before a major overhaul is required. Most used generators come from back-up / standby / emergency applications and typically have very low hours. When new is not an option due to lead time or cost a used generator can be a great alternative. Used generator sets can be test run and / or load bank tested to insure they are operating properly. This is a small added cost when buying a used generator and will insure you are receiving a good operating set.

Just completed earlier this year, we installed a used Cummins 200kW backup generator set. Last summer we had a power outage over a 3 day period. With over 50 employees and no power we were basically out of business for those 3 days. No computers, no phone system, no air-conditioning, no lights etc. Imagine that happening to your business? Within about 3 hours after the outage we were able to get the office up and running by temporarily hooking up a generator set that we had on hand. After the outage we realized that even those 3 hours lost were critical and we began planning on installing a permanent back-up. Now if there is a brown out or power outage we are back up in 10 seconds or less. It has certainly given us peace of mind. Take a look at our generators we have in stock to see how we can help you set up a similar emergency generator plan.

If you have a centrifuge or are going to buy a used centrifuge, which you intend to have reconditioned here are a couple of thoughts to consider. Your first choice is to use the centrifuge manufacturer or a independent centrifuge reconditioning facility. The manufacturers all perform the proper reconditioning but at a very costly price. In recent years some of the manufacturers have branched out to other brand centrifuges to keep their facilities busy, but price still be a factor in this scenario . Concerning independent facilities they generally specialize in certain design centrifuges such as being a decanter facility, disc facility or a basket facility. Some do work on multiple design centrifuges. Additionally some facilities specialize in a specific design centrifuge along with a specific manufacturers. It is always best to discuss with that independent facility what centrifuges are it's main part of their business. If you would like some insight on which facility works on what centrifuges send me a note and I will be glad to assist you.

When looking at using a Decanter centrifuge for a separation application there are a couple key factors to consider during selection. First consideration is the desired phase being either the solids or the liquid. If it is the solids, do you need a dry dewatered solids or a concentrated/thickened solids. If the desired phase is the liquid and a high level of recovered solids/clean centrate must be achieved this will dictate increased pond depths in the Decanter centrifuge. These key considerations (solids or liquids) will dictate the usage of hardfacing wear protection, conveyor/scroll designs, bowl designs (angle, length & diameter), gearbox, control and backdrive requirements. If you have a application and would like to discuss your requirement, please feel free to contact me.
